Yesterday it popped on Geekbench with model number ASUS_I01WD, and today it appeared on AnTuTu as well. The specs are in line with the previous results, and the score is similar to other Snapdragon 855-powered phones. While the chipset, RAM, and OS were already known, the new info is that the phone will have Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 tall screen. Back in early 2018, the Zenfone 5 was among the first Androids with iPhone X-esque notch, and we are curious to see if Zenfone...

Samsung preparing a smaller Galaxy Note10

Posted: 03 Apr 2019 06:30 AM PDT

This is the first time we hear something about a smaller Galaxy Note but it won't be the first time Samsung has done something like this. What might prompt Samsung to do it once more is believed to be the success of the Galaxy S10e. The most affordable of the early 2019 Samsung Galaxy flagships is very well-received by the media and the consumers so Samsung will try to build on that. Also, if the upcoming Galaxy Note10 really is built around a 6.7-inch display, there will be plenty of users looking for a smaller size, which the older 6.4-inch diagonal of the Galaxy Note9 will enable...

According to the company's 2018 financial report, internet services racked in CNY 16 billion ($2.38 billion) with CNY 10.1 billion coming from ad revenue. While Xiaomi users have complained on numerous occasions about intrusive ads across MIUI, its apparent that ads are important for the company's bottom line. Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra's Android 9.0 Pie update restarted

Posted: 03 Apr 2019 03:15 AM PDT

It seems some Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra users are now receiving the Android 9.0 Pie update on their phones. We received a tip from a reader from Myanmar but it's likely that many more countries are getting the over the air firmware as we speak. The firmware 50.2.A.0.352 is different from the 50.2.A.0.342 that was seeded to users in Russia in February, but it resulted in some bricked phones, so it was halted until issues were resolved. Android 9.0 Pie firmware update Do you own an Xperia XA2/XA2 Ultra, have you received the Android 9 OTA? Do you have any issues? Drop us...

Apple iPhones get cheaper in China, but still more expensive than competitors

Posted: 03 Apr 2019 02:30 AM PDT

Apple has lowered prices for its iPhones once again, following a domestic tax reduction policy. Since iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max are the most expensive, they experienced the biggest drop in pricing, and now will cost up to CNY500 less (about $75). However, analysts predict that it Huawei will keep dominating the smartphone market as the change is too small to eradicate its price advantage. The iPhone XS currently starts from CNY8,199 or over $1,200. For comparison, the Mate 20 costs less than half what the Apple flagship goes for, while even the most expensive Mate...

The iPad Mini 5 stays true to its Apple heritage with horrendous repairability

Posted: 03 Apr 2019 01:45 AM PDT

Apple doesn't want you to service its products at home. That's evident by the sheer difficulty of the task of opening up an Apple product. Take the new Apple iPad Mini 5, which was torn down by iFixit - it got a repairability score of 2 out of 10 because of the huge amount of adhesive used to glue together the slate, because the battery is quite difficult to get to, and because you need to remove the home button in order to swap out the display. Hey, at least all the screws can be undone by a single Phillips screwdriver. Despite its unfriendliness to would-be repairers, the Apple...

Samsung Galaxy A20e gets FCC certified with 5.8-inch display

Posted: 03 Apr 2019 01:00 AM PDT

The Samsung Galaxy A20e that's expected to go official next week on April 10 has received FCC certification. It was spotted on the certifying authority's website with model number SM-A202F/DS. The FCC listing doesn't tell us much about the Galaxy A20e, but it does reveal that the smartphone will sport a 5.8-inch screen which is smaller than the display on Samsung Galaxy A20. This also suggests that earlier rumors about the Galaxy A20e packing a 3,000 mAh battery were correct. The FCC listing further reveals single band Wi-Fi support on the A20e, but other than that, there's not much to...

Meizu 16s leaks from the back, reveals new camera array

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:02 PM PDT

The Meizu 16s is expected to arrive with Snapdragon 855 and a 48 MP main camera. While we saw plenty of photos of the front, revealing the tiny bezels, today is the first time we see the back panel. The upcoming flagship leaked in white, with the camera array moved to the left. It will have two shooters, the laser AF (or a similar ToF sensor), surrounded by the ring LED flash, typical for Meizu. One of these two photos is real, but which one? Interestingly enough, the leakster from China provided two images with different logo placements. This raises the question of which...

Foxconn ready for trial iPhone X/XS production in India

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:30 PM PDT

It looks like Apple is really aiming to turn its fortunes in India. While older models such as the iPhone 6S, SE and 7 are already made locally, the move to produce the flagship line would be a very significant step. A new report confirms that Foxconn plans to begin trial production in its Chennai facility before gradually increasing the flow. Producing locally would help Apple avoid import duties, which can reach north of 20%. As an added bonus the company would be closer to opening its own flagship stores across India as the government demands 30% local sourcing for...

Poco Launcher updated with dark mode

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 04:00 PM PDT

The latest update for the Poco Launcher brings Dark Mode (it's hidden in the Settings menu, hit More and then Backgrounds). You can also customize the transparency of the background in the app drawer, including setting it to pure black. The Pocophone F1 itself doesn't have an OLED screen, so you won't get the battery savings of Dark Mode, but the phone will still be more pleasant to use late in the evening. Of course, you can download the Poco Launcher on any Android phone from the Play Store (hit the Source link). Also, if you're running a MIUI 10 phone, you'll have a system-wide Dark...

Verizon is introducing a special plan aimed at young children. The Just Kids plan will be available this Thursday and is built around safety and parental controls. The plan also includes unlimited calls and texts to 20 numbers. Verizon Smart Family Premium is available for free (it's normally $10 a month) and features location tracking, including geo-fence alerts. There's also content filtering and the option to limit screen time, all of which can...

Potential Oppo Reno Lite goes to TENAA

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 02:00 PM PDT

How many versions of the Oppo Reno will there be? Company VP Brian Shen shared photo samples from the Standard Edition, which is expected to lack the periscope camera of the more premium version. Then there are the 5G and Lamborghini versions. And now TENAA posted info on PCAM10 and PCAT10, which is rumored to be the Oppo Reno Lite. It has only two cameras on the back like the renders we saw, but it also has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader (instead of an in-display unit). That's what will make this a "Lite" model compared to the Standard Edition ("SE", perhaps?). Note that the cameras...

Global Redmi Note 7 shipments top 4 million

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 01:00 PM PDT

The Redmi Note 7 was always going to become a best seller but the number that Xiaomi announced today is still impressive. The company confirmed that the phone already hit the four million shipment mark. That would amount to 1.3 million sales per month since the device was launched back in January. The milestone was reached on March 29 and while it's not explicitly mentioned, it probably includes the sales of the Redmi Note 7 Pro. We did like the Redmi Note 7 a lot when we reviewed it with the battery life and camera performance deserving praise. Source

Our Huawei Mate X video preview is up

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:30 AM PDT

The first time we only spent a little time with the Huawei Mate X and we were barely allowed to touch it. Now, however, as the foldable flagship inches closer to its market release we got to enjoy its company for longer. Angie is now ready to answer all you pressing questions about the Mate X in what turned out to be one of our longest videos yet.
